Certificate in the Chemistry of Fermentation Science

This Certificate may be completed as either a stand-alone Certificate or as more in-depth work during or after your baccalaureate studies. Those who have obtained or are currently obtaining an undergraduate degree in science will strengthen their ability to enter the fermentation science field. Those who are currently in the Fermentation Science industry will learn more about the analytical techniques used in the Fermentation industry. The program concentrates on the processes used in making beer and wine, though other fermentation processes are also discussed. Courses prepare graduates for a host of jobs in the Fermentation Science field. Those who are in the fermentation science industry may be given course credit on a case-by-case basis.

Pre-requisite courses required to begin Certificate as applicable*:

Admission requirements for GGC

College Algebra: MATH 1111  4 credit hours) (or equivalent test score)

Principles of Chemistry I: CHEM 1211K  (4 credit hours)

Principles of Chemistry II: CHEM 1212K  (4 credit hours)

Principles of Biology I: BIOL 1107K  (4 credit hours)

Organic Chemistry I: CHEM 2211K  (4 credit hours)

Analytical Chemistry: CHEM 3000K  (4 credit hours) (May be taken concurrently with CHEM 3350)

Instrumental Chemistry: CHEM 4100K  (4 credit hours)
