ITEC 2201 - Introduction to Information Systems (3) Credit Hours Prerequisite: ITEC 1001 (ITEC 2110 & ITEC 2120 recommended for IT Majors); A study of the fundamentals of information systems, including what they are and how they affect organizations. Upon completion of this course students will: (1) understand the key concepts of information systems (IS) and information technology (IT); (2) understand how IS and IT can be applied to gain competitive advantage in business; (3) understand the role and impact of IS/IT on globalization; (4) understand the role of application software in organizing data and demonstrate an ability to use such software; (5) demonstrate knowledge web site development using application software; (6) understand the different information systems used to support business functions at an organization; (7) understand the system development life cycle and its role in developing/supporting information systems; (8) understand the importance of project management and demonstrate an ability to use project management software; (9) understand the security, ethics and privacy issues involved along with future emerging trends in technology.
