PHYS 2211K - Principles of Physics I with Laboratory (4) Credit Hours Prerequisite: MATH 2200 An introductory course that will include material from Mechanics and Thermodynamics. Algebra, trigonometry, and differential and integral calculus will be routinely used. Upon completion of this course students will be able to: (1) Demonstrate a conceptual and mathematical knowledge of 1-D and 2-D Kinematics as applied to both linear and rotational motion; (2) Demonstrate a conceptual and mathematical knowledge of Newton’s Laws as applied to both linear and rotational motion; (3) Demonstrate a conceptual and mathematical knowledge of Work, Energy, and Power; (4) Demonstrate a conceptual and mathematical knowledge of the Laws of Conservation of Energy, Linear Momentum, and Angular Momentum; (5) Demonstrate a conceptual and mathematical knowledge of Simple Harmonic Motion; (6) Effectively collect and present scientific data gathered through experiment; (7) Use computational and estimation skills to analyze data, construct and interpret charts, graphs, and tables, and compose scientific explanations.
