ELED 4600A - Instructional Adaption in Elementary Classrooms (3) Credit Hours Prerequisite: Admission to the Educator Preparation Program; ELED 3500 Co-requisite: ELED 4600B , ELED 4600C This course focuses on adapting instruction to meet individual student needs. Adaptation of instruction includes addressing student variations in achievement, developmental level, intelligences, learning styles, cultures, social/emotional characteristics and interests. It also addresses the varying needs of first - and second language learners and students with special needs. The course will also focus on the use of assessment data to guide the adaptation of instruction to address students’ learning needs and to document their achievement. Candidates will learn to interpret student records and assessment data (including data for students with Individualized Education Program) and develop appropriate adaptations of instruction and assessment that will allow all students, including students with disabilities, to demonstrate progress toward the achievement of instructional goals.
