MATH 2600 - Mathematical Modeling (3) Credit Hours Prerequisite: MATH 2200 This course is an introduction to the application of mathematical models to real systems in areas including chemistry, biology, physics and economics. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to (1) Identify the salient characteristics of a mathematical model; (2) Apply a mathematical modeling process to translate real-world problems into models; (3) Evaluate and apply mathematical methods, including estimation, optimization, simulation, and sensitivity analysis; (4) Evaluate different technologies and apply them to the development and analysis of mathematical models; (5) Classify and apply discrete or continuous, probabilistic or deterministic, and empirical or theoretical models; (6) Collaborate as members of a team throughout the development and analysis of mathematical models; (7) Communicate aspects of a mathematical model including the development, results, and conclusions in both oral and written forms.
