PSYC 2500 - Lifespan Developmental Psychology (3) Credit Hours Prerequisite: PSYC 1102 This course provides a general introduction to the field of developmental psychology. We consider four major areas of development - physical, cognitive, emotional, and social - from conception to death. The course emphasized the interconnections of all facets of development and the strong interconnections between the individual, his or her family, and the social world that provides a niche for development. Attention is given to normative development as well as to the diversity of individual patterns of growth. Diversity of social contexts for development is also emphasized. The course will pay special attention to those factors within the individual and the social context that promote healthy and competent growth and development.
