ITEC 4220 - Advanced Data Analytics

(4) Credit Hours
Prerequisite: MATH 2450 , MATH 2050 , ITEC 4210  
Cover data analytics topics from data sources, to machine learning algorithms, and information retrieval techniques. Provide applied programming experience with hands-on projects involving real data. Explore and use popular data analysis platforms and tools. Completion of the course will be  primarily assessed with graded practice exercises showing the student’s ability to: (1) Identify the data analytics life cycle and issues surrounding large scale data stores; (2) Identify the preprocessing needs of different data sources and analyze them by using various tools such as command line and novel data formats; (3) Apply data mapping and reduction methods in distributed computing platforms; (4) Develop and modify programs in data-oriented computing languages for dimensionality reduction, association rule mining, time series analysis, clustering, and classification; (5) Design and apply information retrieval methods for text and image analysis and retrieval.
