EXSC 4750 - Exercise Science Practicum

Prerequisite: EXSC 4100K  
As an alternative to an Exercise Science Internship, students will gain hands-on experience by performing exercise testing, writing and administering exercise prescriptions, and delivering educational presentations and materials to the local community.  Students will develop strong practical skills by leading, instructing, and supervising participants during aerobic, resistance, and flexibility exercise under the direct supervision of experienced faculty. Students may also take practicum as an elective in addition to internship, provided the prerequisites are met.

Students who have successfully completed the course will:
    Demonstrate proficiency in exercise test administration.
    Interpret resting measurement and exercise test information to participants.
    Prescribe and implement appropriate exercise programs.
    Instruct and correct exercise form.
    Present oral communications on various health topics to the community.
