ITEC 4850 - 3D Modeling and Computer Animation (4) Credit Hours Prerequisite: ITEC 2110 This course focuses on the theory and application of 3D model generation and animation. The topics include 3D geometric modeling, shading and lighting, materials, texturing, camera, rendering techniques, animation, key framing, rigging, skin, hair, fur, rigid and soft body dynamics, etc. Students will develop the ability to create and animate complex 3D models. This is a project-heavy course. Upon completion of this course students will be able to:
1. Describe the fundamentals of 3D modeling and animation
2. Utilize basic tool sets within modeling and animation software.
3. Apply 3D modeling/animation techniques in generating a complex scene
4. Use the knowledge and skills learned in this class as tools to produce creative works
5. Evaluate the complexity of modeling and animation and trade-offs between fidelity and performance
