CMAP 3200 - Adaptation and Reception Studies

(3) Credit Hours
Prerequisite: FILM 3005  with a grade of C or better
This course introduces students to the processes and challenges of adapting various forms of media–literature, myth, religion, history, music, games, comics, etc.- into film, and vice versa.  Students will also develop a means of understanding films and their sources by investigating how these different media are received and understood by audiences, and how they resonate in popular culture. By analyzing the relationships between source material and the experience of cinema and television viewing for spectators, students will come to appreciate how diverse meanings are created.
