Prerequisite: ENGL 1102  (HUSE 2000  or HDAS 2000 ) both with a grade of C or better or permission of instructor
The graying of the world is an undeniable reality that presents both triumphs as well as challenges within different nations that intersect with dimensions like age, race, gender, religion, social class as well as vary within and across cultures.  This course examines components of biogerontology, cognitive gerontology, social gerontology, industrial gerontology, and ethnogerontology in different regions of the world.  The population trends in different regions raise the question of sustainability of families and nations to provide for their elders.  So, an examination of the socio-cultural contexts, policies and practices of nations will enable a comprehensive understanding of what global aging.
