EXSC 3150 - Applications of Aerobic and Anaerobic Exercise (3) Credit Hours Prerequisite: BIOL 2451K and BIOL 2452K Co-requisite: EXSC 3000 This purpose of this course is to introduce students to various modes of aerobic and anaerobic exercise, learn the appropriate applications of each mode, and acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to instruct with proper technique while recognizing and correcting errors. Modes of exercise covered will include cardiovascular training and conditioning, multiple types of resistance training applications (i.e. free weights, resistance bands, etc.), and interval training.
Students who have successfully completed the course will:
1) Demonstrate proper form and technique of various aerobic exercises and resistance training modalities and equipment,
2) Identify and correct biomechanical errors in exercise form technique,
3) Select appropriate exercises and prescription variables according to training status, health condition, or movement limitations, and
4) Design a progressive exercise training program applicable to apparently healthy populations for the purpose general fitness or athletic conditioning.
