ITEC 4220 - Advanced Data Analytics (4) Credit Hours Prerequisite: MATH 2450 , MATH 2050 , ITEC 3170 , ITEC 4700 Additional Requirement: Additional Requirement: Windows or Linux-based laptop or Apple MacBook (see IT Laptop Program@www.ggc.edu/itlaptop) This course covers data analytics topics, from working with various data sources to data mining and machine learning algorithms. It provides applied programming experience with hands-on projects involving real data. It explores and uses popular data analysis platforms and tools. Completion of the course will be primarily assessed with graded practice exercises showing the student’s ability to: (1) Identify the data analytics lifecycle and issues surrounding large scale data stores; (2) Identify the preprocessing needs of different data sources and analyze them by using various tools such as command line and novel data formats; (3) Apply data mapping and reduction methods in distributed computing platforms; (4) Develop and modify programs in data-oriented computing languages; (5) Design and apply data mining, machine learning, and information retrieval algorithms to data-intensive problems.
