ITEC 2135 - Engineering Graphics and Design

(3) Credit Hours
Prerequisite: MATH 1111  

Additional Requirement:  Windows based laptop or Apple MacBook (see IT Laptop Progream @www.ggc.edu/itlaptop)
This course introduces standards and techniques for communicating engineering designs through graphics drawings and visualization. Upon completion of this course students will be able to: 1) describe the history and evolution of engineering drawing and its standards;  2) explain the basic concepts and principles of Engineering Drawing (multiple view projections, components, section views, auxiliary views, dimensioning, tolerancing, assemblies, bill of materials, etc.);  3) develop 2D/3D spatial visualization skills using sketching techniques and CAD software;  4) develop the ability to communicate through all phases of the engineering design process through the language of technical drawing and sketching, standard drawing notations, and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings created by others (articulations, assemblies, bill of materials, etc.); 5) develop the techniques and critical thinking skills necessary for technical practice.
