BIOL 3001 - Exploring Biology as a Profession (1) Credit Hours Prerequisite: BIOL 1107K and BIOL 1108K with a grade of C or better Students will discover research and experiential learning opportunities available to them at GGC and beyond. Students will learn how to find and apply to different research opportunities and explore how to conduct ethical research in the sciences. Students will enhance their career development through learning how to set goals, both short and long-term, catalog the skills they are attaining in all of their courses and begin to network with biology professionals. By the end of this course, students will be able to (1) describe the various research and experiential learning opportunities offered at GGC or other institutions, (2) discuss how to successfully apply for summer REU programs and other experiential learning opportunities, (3) demonstrate ethical decision making in the sciences, (4) utilize resources for both short-term and long term goal setting (5) build an ePortfolio capturing learned STEM and non-STEM skills, (6) create a LinkedIn profile and network with biology professionals.
