SEC 5610 - Social Studies Methods for Secondary Teachers (3) Prerequisites & Notes Admission to the MAT Program
Social Studies Methods for Secondary Teachers merges established pedagogical practice(s) with the historical and contemporary purposes (and challenges) of doing the work of social studies in 6-12 schools. As a study of how people live and interact with the world around them, social studies provides lenses through which we can engage history, geography, and a host of other topics. Informed by theory and research in social studies education, MAT candidates will design inquiry-based learning activities for secondary students using primary source documents available through the Library of Congress and practitioner research from top social studies journals. This course includes an in-person site-based learning experience.
