Secondary Mathematics Methods focuses on both the mathematical resources needed for teaching secondary mathematics and the instructional practices of mathematics teaching that will enable candidates to effectively teach all adolescents. Informed by theory and research in mathematics educationn, candidates will develop understanding and skills related to the following pedagogical practices: selecting and creating rigorous mathematical tasks, anticipating student responses, orchestrating rich mathematical discussions, understanding and responding to mathematical thinks, and supporting students with varied learning needs. This course includes an in-person site-based learning experience.
