A Bachelor of Science in Integrative Studies is degree is a single multi-disciplinary program - offered on campus or fully online - dedicated to fostering the ideals of a broad-based twenty-first century education. The BS in Integrative Studies requires students to complete three 18-credit hour major concentrations or two concentrations and one minor - a structure that encourages the exploration and analysis of diverse disciplinary approaches to critical thinking and problem solving. While the BS in Integrative Studies requires concentrated study within carefully planned fields of inquiry, it also offers the freedom to choose among a wide range of academic areas of interest to design a major that aligns with twenty-first century workforce demands and emerging fields of study. A GGC student who earns this degree will have achieved a broad-based education grounded in a solid core curriculum, while drawing upon focused areas of study to simultaneously develop an understanding of the connections among disciplines. CurriculumGeneral Education Requirements (60 hours):The primary objective of the general education requirements is to guarantee that all students seeking a Bachelors of Science in Integrative Studies (BS) degree will share a common body of knowledge drawn from a broad spectrum of subject areas.
Additional Requirements (3 hours)The physical education requirement is comprised of three credit hours of additional Physical Education courses.
Legislative RequirementsGeorgia law requires that each candidate for a degree demonstrate knowledge of the history and Constitutions of the United States and Georgia. These requirements may be met by receiving a passing grade in certain courses, or by passing the appropriate examination. The courses and the requirement(s) each course satisfies are as follows:
Major Requirements (60 hours)The major requirements consist of three 18-credit hour major concentrations or two concentrations and one minor, completion of an internship and INTS 4000 Integrative Studies Capstone. The Integrative Studies major requirements provide students with the disciplinary agility that prepares them to solve emerging programs facing contemporary society at local, regional, and global levels.
