Spanish for Professionals Certificate

The Spanish for Professionals Certificate offers instruction through task-based communicative projects. The certificate is designed for intermediate-mid to the high-level student. Courses in the certificate will prepare students for successful communication in the Spanish-speaking professional world. This program builds on students’ grammatical and vocabulary knowledge while emphasizing the application of Spanish within a professional setting. The certificate is an embedded certificate program that is offered in three formats: online, hybrid, and face-to-face on campus.
Course work requirements consist of 15 credit hours. After students successfully pass SPAN 2001 and 2002, 3000 and 4000 level courses can be taken in any order or sequence and will be offered each semester as determined by enrollment. Currently, enrolled students in any major are eligible and encouraged to apply.
Students joining GGC;s Spanish Study Aboard program can earn up to 6 credits, chosen from the following courses: SPAN 2001 SPAN 2002 SPAN 3010 SPAN 3020 SPAN 4000 SPAN 4020 SPAN 4500
For SPAN 2001 and SPAN 2002, students may take the prerequisite courses or take the Spanish Placement Test at GGC’s Testing Services with no fees. With a passing placement test score, student are notified about their override status and may proceed to register for SPAN 2001 and/or SPAN 2002 .
