POLS 4300 - Criminal Law in Practice

(3) Credit Hours
Prerequisite: POLS 1101 , ENGL 1102  
This course provides students with an examination of substantive criminal law, its origin and sources, the elements of crime, and modifying circumstances and defenses.  This course will also discuss offenses against the person and property. Students will begin their professional development by creating documents for a legal portfolio and developing skills to help them achieve their future goals. By the end of the course, students develop an understanding of the major concepts in criminal law and the paralegals role in the criminal legal system.  Students also gain writing skills applicable to the discipline and get a head start on their future career development.
