MGED 3600 - Middle Grades Content Methods Practicum

Prerequisite: Admission toTeacher Ed. MGED 3400A , MGED 3400B , SPED 3100  
Co-requisite: (HIST 3070 , ENGL 3055 , EDUC 3700 )  OR (ESCI 3650 , MATH 3650 , EDUC 3700 )
This is one of 3 linked courses for students pursuing a degree in teacher education. It is designed to be taken along with MATH 3650/ESCI3650 or HIST 3070/ENGL 3055. This course is a semester-long student intern experience in a middle school setting, under the supervision of a qualified classroom teacher and college faculty. Candidates will observe, assist, and at times, lead instruction for middle school students. Candidates will collaborate with their mentor teachers to plan, implement, and assess instruction for diverse learners. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate professionalism and effective use of instructional strategies, as well as the provision of a positive and academically challenging learning environment for all students. This course includes 1.5 days (approximately 12 hours) in a middle school field placement.
