EDUC 2120 - Exploring Socio-Cultural Perspectives on Diversity in Educational Contexts-INTL

(3) Credit Hours
Prerequisite: ENGL 1101   with a grade of C or better
This course aims to develop the fundamental knowledge of culture necessary for teaching children from diverse backgrounds. Students will engage in an examination of the nature and function of culture, development of individual and group cultural identity, definitions and implications of diversity, and the influences of culture on learning, development, and pedagogy. Students will achieve broader global awareness and perspectives and learn to successfully interact in an increasingly global community. This course contains required field assignment which incorporates experiential learning. This course is a designated “i-course,” signifying that at least 30% of the course content is international or global.
