The Spanish minor is an interdisciplinary and internationalized program. The Spanish minor is designed to help students improve their oral expression in Spanish, understand the various manifestations of the Hispanic culture, history and civilizations, and function as informed interlocutors and responsible global citizens. Faculty within the Spanish minor teach research methods, critical thinking, writing, and presentation skills in Spanish through discussions of interdisciplinary and internationalized course content and exploration of social justice, equity, equal opportunities, and sustainability issues among others. The Spanish minor helps GGC students increase their knowledge of Hispanic societies, and understand how issues affecting the Spanish-speaking world influence our daily life. Expertise in Spanish is a valuable asset in many fields and professions, particularly in health care, social work, law, (international) business, teaching, counseling, and government service.
