Certificate in Political Economy (18 hours)

The Certificate in Political Economy enhances understanding of the function and scope of social institutions in the presence of limited resources. Students completing the certificate will have a broad understanding of efficiency, equity, and social welfare informed by the approaches of both Economics and Political Science. The certificate is designed with flexibility in mind to allow students to pursue a course of study that fits their interests.
A minimum earned grade of “C” is required in each course to fulfill the certificate.

Electives (6 credit hours)
Students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Economics can select:
1. Two POLS courses at the 3000/4000 lever not used in Required Coursework
OR
2. One POLS course at the 30000/4000 level not used in Required Courses and One Experiential Learning Internship or Study Abroad Course with a prefix of POLS, ECON, or BUSA not used in Required Coursework
Students majoring in Political Science may select:
1. Two ECON courses at the 3000/4000 level and not used in the Required Coursework
OR
2. One ECON course at the 3000/4000 level and not used in Required Courses and One Experiential Learning Internship or Study Abroad Course with a prefix of POLS, ECON, or BUSA not used above in Required Coursework
Students not majoring in Economics or Political Science may select:
1. One ECON course at the 3000/4000 level and not used in Required Coursework
AND
2. One POLS course a tthe 3000/4000 level and not used above in Required Coursework
