GFA 2100 - Production Crew Externship (6) Credit Hours Prerequisite: GFA 1000 and at least one of the following: GFA 2010 GFA 2020 GFA 2030 GFA 2040 GFA 2050 GFA 2060 GFA 2080 GFA 2140 GFA 2310 GFA 2510 GFA 2520 GFA 3010 GFA 3020 GFA 3040 GFA 3070 GFA 3080 GFA 3140 GFA 3310 GFA 3510 GFA 3520 GFA 4010 GFA 4020 GFA 4040 GFA 4140 Students will develop the practical skills and fundamental knowledge for entry-level job positions in professional film and television through hands-on experience when placed in a dedicated craft-specific Externship under the direction of a graduate thesis candidate from one of the GFC graduate programs. The course emphasizes career development through student-specific, on-the-job training and in required weekly lessons that include instructor-led resume and interview training sessions.
GFA 2100 is the lower-level option of GFA 4100. Whenever possible, students should take the 3000/4000-level GFA course option. The 4000-level counterpart has additional academic rigor, including creative projects and the study of history and theory of the craft. Students cannot take both the 2000- and 3000/4000-level option of equivalent courses. Either the 2000- or 3000-level course would satisfy the prerequisite for its related 4000-level course. If pursuing the Nexus, the 3000/4000-level upper-division course is required. Pursuing the 2000-level course will not result in a Nexus degree, but may be used towards GFA certification.
