I. Purpose and Policy Statement

This policy defines i-courses and provides their role within the GGC curriculum. I-courses have been designed to foster the acquisition of international and global perspectives and promote intercultural competence. As such, they contain a high level of international content and activities that can develop intercultural competence. Oversight for i-courses falls under  the Internationalization Committee.

II. Scope

The policy applies to all students interested in the Global Studies certification or the Peace Corps Prep program. All GGC faculty, academic deans, academic advisors, and the Internationalization Committee members must also be familiar with the policy.

III. Definition

I-course: A course with a high level of international content and activities that can foster the acquisition of international and global perspectives and develop intercultural competence.

IV. Function of i-Courses

I-courses are an essential part of GGC’s curriculum as they support the Global Studies Certification Program. Successful completion of i-courses can make a student eligible for the Global Studies Certificate, whose completion requirements are available through this link.
