Posthumous Degrees

I. Purpose and Policy Statement

A posthumous undergraduate degree may be awarded at the request of or with concurrence of the immediate family or guardian of the deceased and upon recommendation of the faculty.

II. Scope

All GGC staff and faculty should be familiar with this policy. 

III. Compliance
  1. The following criteria apply:
    1. The student had earned at least 90 semester hours of credit toward the degree, at least 30 of which were completed at GGC;
    2. The student had earned at least 12 semester hours of upper-division coursework in his or her major;
    3. The student’s GGC cumulative GPA was at least a 2.0.
